The 4Cs, in Plain Language
Cut
How well the diamond's angles return light. Cut has the biggest impact on sparkle, which is why we'd take a better cut over a bigger stone every time.
Color
How close to colorless the diamond is, graded D to Z. Near-colorless grades (G–J) look white to the eye and leave more budget for cut and size.
Clarity
The tiny internal characteristics no diamond escapes. The goal isn't flawless; it's "eye-clean", no visible inclusions without magnification.
Carat
The weight, not the size. Two diamonds of the same carat can look noticeably different depending on cut and shape.
